For the first time at an ATP event in the UK, the electronic line-calling system ‘Hawk-Eye’ will be in operation at The Artois Championships.
Giant Screens will be installed at opposite ends of the centre court showing replays of line-calls ‘challenged’ by players. The technology has been greeted with huge acclaim among players, spectators and the media.
“I think Hawk-Eye is great,” said Andy Roddick.
“I've always been one of its biggest supporters. I like everything about it. I think it's great for the fans, it adds another dimension to watching it on TV, and it takes some heat off the umpires a little bit - takes human error out of it. It’s better for me personally, because it means that I spend less time whining about line-calls!”
