Roddick and Hewitt Target Record Fifth Title
Back to list >
Defending champion Andy Roddick and fellow four-time winner Lleyton Hewitt will both be aiming for a record fifth title - a feat that eluded even the great John McEnroe (4 titles), Boris Becker (4) and Pete Sampras (2) - when the tournament begins in June.
The pair have won the last eight editions of the tournament between them, with Hewitt triumphing in 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2006, and Roddick winning in 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2007.
Tournament Director Chris Kermode, said: "Over the years, virtually all of the great players of the modern era have played at the tournament and have gone on to the final stages at Wimbledon and often to win. In this our 30th year, we have a fantastic line up and another great tournament in prospect "
