The Artois Championships To Follow Wimbledon’s Hawk-Eye Challenge Protocol

The Artois Championships will adopt the same protocol as Wimbledon when operating the Hawk-Eye line-calling technology at The Queen’s Club in London next month.

Wimbledon announced today that three incorrect challenges will be allowed in a set, an increase from the previous figure of two used at the US and Australian Opens.

If a set goes to a tiebreak, this limit of incorrect challenges is increased from three to four for the set.

Giant Screens will be installed at opposite ends of the centre court at the Artois Championships, showing replays of line-calls ‘challenged’ by players. The technology has been greeted with huge acclaim among players, spectators and the media.

A star-studded field has been announced for the 2007 Artois Championships. It includes Rafael Nadal, former World No.1’s Lleyton Hewitt, Andy Roddick and Marat Safin, British duo Andy Murray and Tim Henman, and Top Ten players Ivan Ljubicic, Novak Djokovic and Fernando Gonzalez.

The doubles draw will feature the Bryan Brothers – Mike and Bob, and Andy Murray’s brother, Jamie.
